I am so glad today is Friday, and not only that, but right now it's Friday at 5pm. I am so sick of work, sick of coming here and sick of sitting in my cubicle all day. I like what I do but sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have a job that didn't take place in an office building.
I'm so tired lately. I don't know what it is. Well that's a lie, I know what it is, I'm not sleeping. What I don't know is why am I not sleeping? Everynight I have been tossing and turning and waking up 4-7 times between when I go to bed and when my alarm goes off. Three days this week I've actually just gotten up and turned the alarm off before it even goes off. If you knew me outside of this whole cyber-space thing, you would know, that is really really rare. I used to be able to sleep all day long! Maybe I'm just anxious about next week. I feel like I have a lot to do between now and then. I'm hoping I can catch up on some rest this weekend.
Well I'm shutting my computer down and getting out of here while I still can!

15 days to go...
Well the countdown is on. In 15 days I am getting the lap-band. To all of you who have no idea what that is, I'm including a short video to tell you more about it.
I'm nervous but excited. I've never had surgery before so I'm nervous about the logisitics of that. But I'm also nervous about the afterwards. I'm not telling people I work with that I'm getting it done. People there are nosey enough as it is. I am getting it done on a Tuesday and the following Monday I will be back at work. I'm hoping I'm well enough by then to act like everything is normal for at least 8 hours a day.
For now I am keeping myself busy by getting myself as ready as possible. I've been reading different blogs and forums and trying to see what to expect. Some of the things I've purchased and going into my "after surgery" box are liquid tylenol (since I won't be able to swallow anything that isn't a liquid), gas ex strips (apparently they fill you with air and you have horrible gas afterwards) and liquid protein drinks. I've also got a heating pad, tv series dvds to watch, mom coming to take care of me and plenty of knitting to keep me busy. If anyone out there can think of anything else I might need, let me know!
Next on the list... trying to find all liquid stuff I can eat for a week and mushy stuff for 3 weeks after that. Wish me luck!

First Post - Yay!
Well this is my first post. I set up this blog mainly to write about my experiences with the "lap-band". But I plan to write about more than just that. I am a 27 year old single girl in Houston, TX. I refuse to write out my likes and dislikes because I think that is the most stupid thing to ask someone. I have never written a blog before, but I have high hopes that I'll keep up with it. Growing up I would write in a diary for about a week solid and then give up. Hopefully I'll do better with this!
Here are some things to note about myself:
- I am a tax accountant (Yes, I went to school for 6 years so that I could do income taxes all day. And yes, I know this makes me semi-certifiable.)
- My family lives in the state to my right. I find that living in another state from them only improves our relationship.
- I grew up the middle child of my family. Look out for middle child tendencies!!
- I like to knit. I own a crazy amount of yarn.
- I have a great group of friends
- I have a really cute dog, if I do say so myself!!
Please leave comments and send me messages. Let me know you are out there!
